Vancouver New Music presents Mark Takeshi McGregor and Liam Hockley
Vancouver-based flutist Mark Takeshi McGregor has been praised for his "mind-blowing" performances of "huge physical energy" (Times Colonist). Clarinetist Liam Hockley is emerging as a musical talent to watch an artist for whom "alternative or avant-garde approaches to his instrument are only part of the everyday toolkit" (Georgia Straight). For this concert, the two will collaborate to perform a selection of new and recent works for flute, clarinet, and electronics.
Taking their respective instruments into varied musical territories, this concert will feature recent works for flute, clarinet and electronics, including world premiere performances of Canadian composer Yota Kobayashi’ s Duo Augmented (2016), and Iranian composer Kimia K. Yazdi ’s Displacement II (2018).
Not suitable for children under 12.
