Presented by Reality Curve Theatre this full-day workshop and seminar is designed to provide actors with new tools and insights into the audition process. Presented by established working actors, casting directors, and producers – the workshop will be grounded in common-sense, logic, provable realities, practicable techniques, and professional experience.
The day will begin with Audition Psych 101, a workshop presented by NYC-based actor Michael Kostroff (The Wire, The Deuce, Luke Cage). Michael will deconstruct the ideas that make actors feel scared, nervous, insecure, discouraged, and unworthy, explore some of those strange, illogical actor mythologies, and consider fresh ideas and practical techniques for making auditions much more enjoyable and successful.
The day will continue with a discussion and Q&A with casting director JJ Ogilvy (Riverdale, The Good Doctor, Prison Break) who will discuss the audition process as viewed from the other side of the casting table, offering his unique perspectives as to what actors do right and what they do wrong.
Next up, renowned American playwright, film director, screenwriter and producer Neil LaBute (Van Helsing, Hell on Wheels) will offer insights into auditioning from the perspective of a show-runner/producer and director. A rare opportunity to learn more about what producers/directors are thinking and looking for at call-backs.
The day will end with Anne Marie DeLuise, a professional actor with over two decades of experience, who has the unique experience of also working as a casting associate for a number of years. We’ll discuss important take ways she’s discovered from working in both fields.
