The Vancouver International Flamenco Festival: Monique Salez & The Dream Cab
When did the wolf return to roam Spain? A dreamscape that wanders through questions of identity, flamenco, life and learning.
MONIQUE SALEZ is a multi-disciplined performer, choreographer, and teacher of movement for over 25 years whose deep passion resides in the art of flamenco. Her unique style stretches the genre by fusing it with elements of modern, jazz and hip-hop. Monique's creative vehicle of choice is her creation The Dream Cab(aret). This curated collection of artists allows her to engage the diverse modalities of dance, theatre, live music, video and spoken word to express the restless creative muse within. Raino Dance, now 35 years young, and where Monique developed a flamenco program, became her studio in 2012. Presently, Monique is training and sweating through six hot weeks of an Andalusian summer in Seville and Madrid, yet again soaking up the sounds, smells, flavours and vistas of the birthplace of Flamenco.
