The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra's Musically Speaking series finale is highlighted by the World Première of Bramwell Tovey’s own Shalimar Variations for Piano and Orchestra, based on The Kashmiri Song, made famous by Deanna Durban in the wartime movie, Hers to Hold. One of the finest popular songs of its time, the mystical lyrics and enchanting music inspired Maestro Tovey with its magical harmonic possibilities.
