Aeriosa Dance Society presents New Artists and Approaches in Vertical Dance Volume II

Open Studio Sharing & Artist Talk

In collaboration with Urban Jazz Dance Company led by Mx. Antoine Hunter (Oakland, CA) & Deaf Theatre Artist Landon Krentz (Calgary) of Inside Out Theatre, Aeriosa is proud to present New Artists and Approaches in Vertical Dance | Volume II. This co-led creative programming initiative celebrates the remarkable milestone of Aeriosa’s 20th anniversary season — a momentous occasion for this ground-breaking vertical dance company under the leadership of Artistic Director Julia Taffe.

As part of this celebratory season, Aeriosa is embarking on an innovative collaboration, welcoming artists from Urban Jazz Dance Company and Inside Out Theatre to Vancouver for a week of creative exchange, collaboration and learning from August 18th to 23rd, 2025. With special project support from Vancouver Civic Theatres, BC Arts Council and City of Vancouver, eleven Deaf and Hearing artists will weave together aerial dance, ASL, and physical theatre, planting the seeds for future co-creation and nurturing the development of diverse artistry in vertical dance. As the research week concludes, audiences will be invited into the theatre for an ‘Open Studio Sharing and Artist Talk’ offering a glimpse into the collaborative process.
