Time Will Tell Arts Society presents Madhavan Geetam

 Time Will Tell Arts Society, in partnership with Vancouver SaPaSa and Layaa Rhythmic Arts, presents Madhavan Geetam "Krishna's Flute", an enchanting evening of South Indian dance presented by emerging and established practitioners of the art along with a live musical ensemble.

Madhavan Geetam brings together a multigenerational and multicultural ensemble of music and dnace artists to explore the originality, beauty and depth that is offered by Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music. The repertoire will be composed of age-old compositions of the great composers of South India (such as Thyagaraja, Swati Tirunal), given shape and form by a number of dancers led by Vaishali Koushik of Laaya Rhythmic Arts and Himabindu Vankayala (with support from Anuradha Rao and Shantaleela Rao Andrews). Of special note in this program are several original compositions that feature the poetry of the late Variath Madhavan Kuttyand the music of Vidyasagar Vankayala. Madhavan-ji was a great supporter and inspiration to many of the artists in this program and this will be a fitting tribute to his legacy and memory.

Of special note is the rare use of a live Bharatanatyam orchestra of musicians to perform the music, with the inclusion of the Persian ney and jazz guitar to present an expanded view of the form, with Satvik and Shravan Srinivasan (violin), Rohan Devraj (vocal), Sharvari Somayaji (vocal), Curtis Andrews (mridangam), Jared Burrows (guitar) and Amir Eslami (ney).
