The VSO School of Music presents String Ensembles Concert: Stage, Screen & Strings
Join us for a lively celebration of music from stage and screen with the VSO School of Music’s six string ensembles. The VSOSoM Percussion Ensemble joins Sinfonietta in Rodion Shchedrin’s brilliant reimagining of Bizet’s masterpiece Carmen, while Camerata delivers a newly arranged suite of music from Puccini’s La Bohème. Intermezzo will treat you to excerpts from the dramatic Peer Gynt Suite, and cinematic energy sizzles as Intermezzo & Sinfonietta join forces with a complete rhythm section to perform themes from Michael Giacchino’s jazzy score for The Incredibles!
Come and support the hard work of almost 100 string students, and let music from stage and screen transport you to other worlds from your seat in the Playhouse.
This symphonic concert celebrates Joe Hisaishi's long and fruitful collaboration with the master of animated cinema, Hayao Miyazaki. Presented by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
