TAIWANfest presents Cinematic Taiwan: Shape of Love
Director Akira Chen
This is a story about how to grow love out of hatred in a place called “home”. Zhi-gui used to daydream of his success when he was young. However, he always caused incredible trouble and left it to his wife Shu-juan. Then, he disappeared into thin air to avoid his creditors. The whole family gradually fell apart. Shu-juan became a nun while her son, Jie, took all kinds of part-time jobs, and her daughter, Su-fen, worked in a nightclub. Now, Su-fen is working as a funeral director. When everything has returned to normal, the father comes home, dying. Su-fen looks at the father that she both loves and hates, refusing to give up on him. She wants everyone to come to keep her father company and asks him to say goodbye to them.
The screening will be followed by a virtual Q&A with Director Chen.
