The Biting School and New Works presents Work in Progress
You are invited to an informal sharing from The Biting School following a residency in partnership with New Works and Vancouver Civic Theatres! This hasn't been announced yet, so keep it on the down low, but we will be presenting the world premiere of this new work in November 2023!
Zahak, the Serpent King by The Biting School
Zahak, a tyrannical ruler, found himself cursed with snakes growing from his shoulders. Shahrnaz and Arnavaz, the two sisters of the previous king who are held captive by him plot his ultimate downfall. Aryo and Arash embark on a creative journey, driven by their surrealistic and abstract artistic impulses, as they explore this captivating Iranian myth. This marks the second phase of creation for the piece, with its premiere scheduled for November 2023.
During this open rehearsal, the ensemble will delve into integrating video projection for the first time into their theatrical and choreographic explorations.
