Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra presents Brahms with Ian Parker, piano
The Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra’s (VAMSO) season opening concert begins with Wagner’s Die Meistersinger: Prelude, the lighthearted and fun introduction to his comic opera. To follow is Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8, a piece that does not shy away from dramatic passages while celebrating the joys and beauty of life. In a rousing conclusion, VAMSO Principal Conductor and VAM Distinguished Faculty Artist Ian Parker adopts a dual conductor-soloist role in Brahms’ much-loved Piano Concerto No. 1.
