The Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra presents Brahms Symphony No. 3

Come inside from the cold and dream of snowy landscapes giving way to lush greenery with the Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra. Opening the concert is Wagner’s symphonic poem Siegfried Idyll. To follow, Ashley Kim, winner of VAM’s 2021 Kay Meek Competition, performs Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in D minor, an exceptional piece full of power, broodiness, expressivity, and incredible demands of virtuosity. Just as outstanding is Brahms’ Symphony No. 3, the shortest of his four symphonies yet filled with sophistication, cohesiveness, and passion. One might hear the woods and forests as well, giving the promise of warmth to come.

Ian Parker, conductor.
