Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week 2019

Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week (VIFW) exists at the intersection of contemporary Indigenous fashion and community development and healing. Mixing the legacy of Indigenous artistry with modern day high regalia and street styles, and engaging in mentor-ship across generations in design, artistry, and production, VIFW goes beyond surface beauty and highlights how worn identity can build connection with Indigenous values, wisdom, empowerment, and history. The mission of VIFW is to bring global recognition to Indigenous fashion designers and artisans from the Northwest coast and across Turtle Island. VIFW showcases the power and beauty of authentic Indigenous art and design by supporting talent development and organizing showcases throughout the year, culminating with Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week.

Join us as we kick off Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week with elegance and glamour at the beautiful Orpheum. We invite you to wear red in honour of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls, as we bear witness to the pain of this great loss while elevating the brilliant talent and artistry shared by designers like Debra Sparrow, Janice George, Yolanda Skelton, Pam Baker, Morgan Asoyuf and Evan Ducharme and special guests.

Come at 5:30pm and enjoy our Indigenous Makers Market and first-come first-serve seating, show begins at 6:30pm.
