Come celebrate the launch of the third annual Vancouver Opera Festival with a day of opera, art, and events at the Vancouver Playhouse, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, and šxwƛ̓ exәn Xwtl’a7shn (formerly the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza).

Vancouver Opera Festival Art Walk

During the Festival, multidisciplinary art installations inspired by the theme of Fairytales & Fables spring up around the lobbies and grounds of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and Vancouver Playhouse. Featuring the work of Jennifer Chernecki, Megan Majewski, Malibu Taetz, Thomas Panio, Gabrielle Odowichuk, Marie Metaphor Specht, and Sean Karemaker.

Red Shift Society’s The Handless Maiden
5:00pm – 5:30pm at Queen Elizabeth Theatre Lobby
Benton Roark and Katherine Koller’s chamber opera explores the myth of the handless maiden. A story of empowerment and discovering one’s own strength of character in the face of adversity.

Cupid, a Love Story presented by CircusWest
6:00pm – 6:30pm at šxwƛ̓ exәn Xwtl’a7shn (formerly the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza)
A circus adaptation of the Greek myth of Cupid (heart) and his true love Psyche (soul). Set to the indelible canon of Puccini’s aria’s, this performance promises to amaze and delight while making your heart flutter.
