Chaplin Shorts: The Cure, The Champion and The Adventurer
Vancouver Civic Theatres presents Silent Movie Mondays, featuring classic silent films with live accompaniment on the historic Wurlitzer organ—the last theatre organ in Canada still performing in its original home.
Enjoy a pre-show performance by the Gatsby Strutters Jazz Band, followed by the film with organists Michael Dirk and Koos Van Nieuwkoop. Afterward, Keith Blackmore of Vancouver Film School will lead a discussion on silent-era special effects with a special guest.
The Cure, The Champion and The Adventurer
Three of Charlie Chaplin's most beloved shorts showcasing his gift for physical comedy and comic mischief. In The Cure, Charlie causes chaos at a health spa when his hidden supply of alcohol finds its way into the mineral waters. The Champion follows an unlikely boxer who relies on clever tricks to survive in the ring, while The Adventurer sees Chaplin as an escaped convict attempting to blend into high society while staying one step ahead of the police.
