Vancouver Recital Society presents the Danish String Quartet
The GREAT Danes are back! This concert kicks off an ambitious four-year international commissioning project, Doppelgänger, which pairs world premieres from four renowned composers — Bent Sørensen, Lotta Wennäkoski, Anna Thorvaldsdottir, and Thomas Adès — with four major works from the chamber music repertoire of Franz Schubert. Each season, the Danish String Quartet will perform a world premiere on a program with its doppelgänger — the Schubert quartet or quintet that inspired it. The VRS is delighted to be a co-commissioner of the Doppelgänger project.
