The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Musically Speaking presents Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto
Just in time for Valentine’s weekend, an evening of romantic intensity and virtuosity awaits you. Soloist Sir Stephen Hough returns to Vancouver to scale the heights of the “Mount Everest” of the piano repertoire, Rachmaninoff’s fiercely demanding and exceedingly passionate Third Piano Concerto. After the break, Conductor Junichi Hirokami leads Mendelssohn’s Scottish Symphony, inspired by the composer’s visit to Edinburgh and steeped in windswept drama, shadow, and misty elegance.
