The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Masterworks Diamond presents Rachmaninoff, Mahler & The Mermaid
America’s foremost baritone and Grammy Award-winner Thomas Hampson joins Andrey Boreyko and the VSO in selections from Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn (The Boy’s Magic Horn). The evening opens with the haunting dreamlike image of Rachmaninoff’s Isle of the Dead and draws to a close with Zemlinsky’s shimmering The Mermaid, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s evocative fairytale.
