Acclaimed by BBC Music Magazine as “perhaps the most ‘complete’ pianist of his age,” Canadian superstar Jan Lisiecki reunites with the VSO for Beethoven’s triumphant Emperor Piano Concerto, a work brimming with courage and exhilaration. After the break, conductor Osmo Vänskä leads Sibelius’s majestic Fifth Symphony, where vast Nordic landscapes and the unforgettable “swan hymn” build toward one of music’s most awe-inspiring finales.
