The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Musically Speaking and Symphony Sundays presents Dvořák’s Cello Concerto
Celebrated as “technically flawless” by The Strad, Santiago Cañón-Valencia performs Antonín Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor, one of the most passionate works written for the instrument. After the break, Maestra Marzena Diakun leads the orchestra in Richard Strauss’s sunny Aus Italien, a vivid portrait of the young composer’s travels through Italy. You’ll even recognize the famous tune “Funiculì, Funiculà,” woven into the final movement.
