The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Musically Speaking and Symphony Sundays presents Mozart, Bartók & Ligeti
Experience an evening of rhythm and revelation led by conductor Ludovic Morlot. Described by The New Yorker as “perhaps the most elegant of today’s young pianists,” Alessio Bax brings charm and brilliance to Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12, a work both cheerful and heartfelt. Framing the program are two orchestral showpieces: Ligeti’s Romanian Concerto, bursting with rustic colour and rambunctious energy, and Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, which spotlights every section of the VSO on a journey from darkness to life-affirming light.
